Take A Deep Breathe And Pause: A Reminder 0 647

Just a few days ago, I was mentally drained. At the end of the day, I feel exhausted, I feel like I am on my last nerve. My eyes hurt, my body hurt. I stayed up so late I cannot even have a proper sleep (not even a good sleep).

It is because I forget something.

I forget to take care of myself.
I forget to let myself breathe for a second. I forget to let my hand open a novel that I love. I forget to let myself laugh at some silly youtube videos. I forget to let myself said “No. Fuck that. I will choose to take care of myself “for now,” and so on.

I forget to do all of that, among other things, and I can feel myself getting weaker and weaker. I forget to do all of that just because I aim for something big and it needs a GirlBoss power to do it. I forget to do all of that meanwhile my body just scream for help.

Let me tell you something, ladies.

Yes, get yourself some education. Yes, get yourself some bomb-ass career. Yes, get yourself some projects. Yes, do all of that. But, remember, an empowered woman, too, need to take a rest. An empowered woman needs to breathe. An empowered woman needs to clear her mind once a while.

You have to realize that you need to take care of yourself. Go get some vacation, some hangouts with friends, some new dish from a bomb-ass restaurant, some hobbies. YOU need it. YOU have to have it.

In the end, we are not some superwomen that have a great power (even Lilly Singh, the REAL superwoman, needs to take a rest once a week).

It is not selfish to choose yourself over something else once in a while. It is not selfish to take care of yourself. It is not. You deserve it after a lot of hard work that you did. Even if it will cost some sacrifices, it will worth it in the end. Believe me.

We cannot take care of someone else if we cannot even take care of ourself.

An empowered woman needs to rest, including you.
