News of Bill Cosby’s sexual misbehavior has come into the light and could have partly been the start of a movement of the uprising for the brave women and men who have spoken out against their abusers. The allegations against Cosby had occurred during from the spam of 1965 to 2008. However, as most abusers do when they are accused of allegations in such nature, he denied them blindly. It was only on April 26th, 2018 that the court found Cosby guilty over the incident (January 2004), in which he drugged and molested Andrea Constand in his Philadelphia home.

The now 81-year-old actor has been sentenced to by the Montgomery County Judge Steven O’Neil to jail without possibility of bail and described him as a “sexually violent predator” and the title will follow him for the rest of his life and remaining showbiz career. He will for the remainder of his life after his eventual release (which we all know might be soon, because he is a “celebrity” and an elderly) his name will appear on a sex-offender registry.

What makes the situation almost seem “unreal” was the fact that Cosby genuinely did not seem to think that he would face the rest of his life in prison. He is currently looking at a sentencing of 3 to 10 years.  Judge Steven O’Neil, adamant about his decision to not give him bail due to his long track history. Andrea Constand released her victim impact statement and it is just as heart-retching as you might think. Supporters of Cosby, such as his publicist claim that he is being judged unfairly but is he really? He has been sexually tormenting women for decades and is only now being punished for his actions. This is nothing more than just plain and simple justice finally taking its course.

I still cannot bring myself to the news that he had committed such heinous acts towards women behind closed doors yet was the ever so wholesome celebrity in the media. With social media growing and creating a platform for individuals to have the courage to speak up, it scares me to think which new beloved celebrity, will be disappointed with due to their actions behind the curtain? It just goes to show that you really cannot judge a book by its cover. An important request to celebrities, do not disappoint your loved ones and fans because of your “urges”. In short, please always keep your arms and legs near your body. Lastly, when in doubt, put your head down and hands in your pockets and walk away!
