Many people may not know this about me, but reality television is my guilty pleasure. It’s turning into quite the obsession as of late, however. This obsession includes all shows from The Bachelor franchise. Yes, yes although I’m painfully unlucky in love, I can’t help but watch people fall in love. It makes my heart burst! Watching the drama unfold is also fun, too *sips tea.*

Now that the beautiful Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette is coming to an end (I can’t wait to see who she picks!), it’s that time again… Time for Bachelor in Paradise! Ah, the beach, the beautiful people, the drinks; a tropical escape filled with make-out sessions and finding your match. What could be better than watching people fall in love on a tropical island? The Bachelor franchise giving us representation, that’s what! I’m squealing with glee!

The trailer for Bachelor in Paradise just recently dropped and I am SO ready! Not only is the season going to be packed with drama, a scuffle in the sand, and plenty tears, but we’ll have our very first same-sex romantic encounter on this show! This is very important because The Bachelor franchise is only known for helping heterosexual individuals find love. There was never any inclusion… until now.

In the short trailer for the show, contestant Demi Burnett admitted her feelings for another female contestant. In addition, she states to the camera, “I don’t care who sees this,” and proceeds to make out with the female contestant on a bed. I believe that through this trailer (although the clips were short), people in the LGBTQ+ community who identify as bisexual are seen, accepted, and validated. Also, Demi could possibly help those struggling to accept their sexuality. This show has transformed into more than finding love in paradise. This makes me love it even more.

When the trailer dropped, Demi tweeted:

Spoiler alert: I’m a queer queen ???? #BachelorInParadise— Demi Burnett (@demi_burnett) July 23, 2019

You sure are a true queen, Demi. Welcome to the family, and we can’t wait to see what paradise has in store for you!
